Announcement: Scottsboro City Schools will be closed for Thanksgiving Break.

The Scottsboro City Schools Child Nutrition Program will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2025-26 school year.  Under this provision, all Scottsboro City Schools will provide FREE breakfast and FREE lunch to all enrolled students.  Students who choose to purchase á la carte items (water, chips, ice cream, etc.) will need to have money in their student accounts, as these items are not included in the provision.  It will not be necessary for families to complete the Free & Reduced-Priced Meals Application for the 2025-26 school year to determine eligibility.  For additional information, please contact Ms. Melva Krell, Child Nutrition Director at mkrell@scottsboroschools.net or 256-218-2100.

Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA)

Parent meeting December 8, 2025, at 2 p.m.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and productive learning environment for all students, Scottsboro City Schools is required to comply with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), a federal law designed to protect children from harmful online content while using school computers and networks.
To maintain eligibility for important federal funding through the E-rate program and, most importantly, to ensure your child's safety, our district implements the following measures:

  • Technology-based internet filters that block access to obscene material, child pornography, and content considered harmful to minors.
  • Monitoring of students' online activities on school devices and networks.
  • An Internet Safety Policy that addresses appropriate online behavior, safe use of email and social media, cyberbullying awareness and prevention, and protecting personal information online.

Each year, we hold a public hearing and presentation as part of our CIPA compliance process. This allows us to review our current Internet safety policies, discuss any updates, and gather community input.

You are cordially invited to our Annual CIPA and Internet Safety Presentation
